Zameen Director: Rohit Shetty
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Cast: Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu

Debutant director Rohit Shetty directs the film Zameen. The star cast includes Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Mukesh Tiwari.

The plot is taken from a real life incident of the 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines Airbus to Kandahar and the succeeding release of three militants in exchange for the passengers.

Ajay Devgan is Col. Ranvir who is on a mission to wipe out terrorism from the society. He captures the instigator of Al Tahir organization, Baba Zaheer (Mukesh Tiwari), who fights for the freedom of Kashmiris.

Six months later, four terrorists break into the Indian side during a violent combat at the Indo-Pak border. Ranvir takes charge of tracing these four men.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, ACP Jai (Abhishek Bachchan) tries to track a gang that is involved in trafficking arms into the city. Ranvir arrives in Mumbai and joins hands with Jai to track down these men and thwart their mission.

But the terrorists successfully hijack an Indian aircraft and fly to PoK. Both Ranvir and Jai try hard to save the hostages. On board is the airhostess Nandini Rai (Bipasha Basu).

Nandini is Jai’s fiancé. She does have a major role to play but her monologues to the terrorists are a bit tiring in the middle of all the action.

The plot is fast and immediacy is the core of the intricate situation.

Rohit Shetty makes an impressive directorial debut in the movie. While he has done a decent enough job, he could have done better.

Ajay Devgan has portrayed the role of a colnel well in Zameen. He is the action man in the movie while Abhishek Bachchan is a confused person who is in search of his identity. He is a good thinker and believes in plan rather than action.

Lot of dhamaka, blasts, drama, adventure, excitement, action and loads of masala is what you can expect from Zameen. So it is a good entertainer. Music by Himesh Reshammiya is very melodious and lyrics by Sameer is meaningful.

The song Tere Sang sung by KK and Hema Sardesai is peppy. Sarzameen Se sung by KK and Shaan is fabulous.

Cinematography by Aseem Bajaj is quite good. He has captured the action sequences well. Except for the heavy dialogues, this movie is worth a watch.
