Director: Satish Kaushik
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Cast: Salman Khan, Bhumika Chawla
Produced by Mukesh Talreja and Sunit Manchanda, Tere Naam - Unfortunately a True Love Story has been directed by the renowned actor-director, Satish Kaushik.
Tere Naam is a remake of the Tamil film Sethu, which had two other versions in Telugu Seshu and Kannada, Huchha. Director Satish Kaushik has done a decent job of directing a remake, giving it a new look. The assets of the movie are its simple story line and fabulous acting by Salman Khan.
Radhe Mohan (Salman Khan) is a person who believes in his strength and not in mushy love. He takes pleasure in bashing the goons and not in singing and dancing. He has a different hair style which represents his different way of thinking and living. Nothing impresses him. Not even girls divert his attention. But when he encounters the simple girl-next-door Nirjara (Bhoomika Chawla), he feels that there is something more than he knows in life and that is love.
Radhe tries to change and mend his ways. What he has towards Nirjara is pure love and not attraction. Now, we wonder where it blossomed in the midst of a violent heart? Nirjara is an orthodox girl who fears Radhe. She has no such feelings as to love him. But Radhe tries to enforce his love on her. When she doesn't change her mind, he kidnaps her. He then realises his mistake and goes through a transformation for the sake of his love.
But fate has its own plans for Radhe. He is attacked by his rival goons. Radhe tries to fight back but is left in a pool of blood. He loses his memory. Radhe is treated in an asylum. He gets back his memory but not his love, Nirjara.
The first half of the movie has its absorbing moments, but is badly affected by many over-dramatised and loud portions.
Salman Khan has done his job well and has done justice to the movie as well as his role.
Bhoomika Chawla has done her best to prove her acting skills but she has a long way to go. But with her fresh looks, she fits the role well.
Music by Himesh Reshammiya is melodious. The title song Tere Naam Hum Ne Kiya Hai is rhythmic and is a hit with the audience. Lyrics by Sameer is romantic. Sukhwinder Singh has sung the sound track Lagan Lagi. It is an energetic song sung by him. Udit Narayan, Kamal Khan, KK, Shaan and Alka Yagnik sing the pulsating O Jaana.
Tere Naam is different and is a good movie to watch. The climax justifies the story. It is an interesting movie but not to be taken literally, as Salman has pointed out in an interview. .
