Kuch Naa Kaho Director: Rohan Sippy
Music: Shankar-Eshan-Loy
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai

Kuch Naa Kaho is produced by Ramesh Sippy and directed by his son, Rohan Sippy. The movie has a good star cast with Abhishek Bachchan and Ashwarya Rai. This is their second movie together after the not-so-hot, Dhai Akshar Prem Ke.

In Kuch Naa Kaho Abhishek Bachchan plays Raj, an NRI who lives with his mother. He is an eligible bachelor who insists on staying single. But his mother, Dr. Malhotra (Suhasini Mulay), wants a bahu to take care of her handsome son. Raj has no interest in the bond of marriage. And his mother tries all possible ways to convince him, in vain.

Raj comes to India to attend his cousin's wedding. During his visit, his maternal uncle (Satish Shah) tries to convince Raj to get married. He also tries to introduce Raj to some eligible girls. Accidentally (or not!), he is also introduced to Namrata (Aishwarya Rai), who a married woman.

Raj is attracted to Namrata because of her simplicity and personality. And he does not realise that she is a married woman. Namrata is a mature woman who is separated from her husband. She is also a single mother.

Namrata tries to help Raj in finding a decent bride but none impress him. After a series of meetings with prospective brides, it is clear to Namrata that all her efforts are useless as the man is not ready to accept anyone... but her.

She tries to explain that she is a married woman but he is not ready to listen.

The plot is simple and straight. The story is also dealt deeply because the intensity of a relationship between Namrata and her husband is not brought through in the film. And her dilemma whether or not to accept Raj is also not portrayed well.

The assets of the movie are the good locales and bright and green scenery. Also the choreography of all the songs especially that of Tumhe Aaj Maine Jo Dekha is filled with light moves and steps which look good with the tall Junior B and ex-beauty queen Aswarya Rai.

Ashwarya Rai has done a good job and has tried her best to act well. But her beautiful looks and chiselled body overshadows her acting capabilities. Abhishek Bachchan has flown with the wind and given his best shot. Though the story does not hold the viewer’s attention, it entertains the audience well.

As for Rohan Sippy, he could have done better as a debutant director. But one cannot expect Sholay 2 from Rohan Sippy as he still has a long way to go.

Lyrics by Javed Aktar are consequential. It expresses the actors’ feelings well. Sadhna Sargam and Shaan give the best song of the movie, the title song Kuch Naa Kaho.

Tumhe Aaj Maine Jo Dekha is very rhythmic. Shankar Mahadevan’s voice is melodious.

The movie has nothing to contribute though it is a good entertainer. But it does give a new perspective to look at relationships.
