Big Brother: Let bhaigones be bygones
indya.com rating: 1.5 out of 5
Cast: Sunny Deol, Priyanka Chopra and Danny.
Director: Guddu Dhanoa
Synopsis: Deodhar Gandhi (Sunny) lives in Mumbai with his family comprising of his wife (Priyanka), mom (Farida Jalal), bro (Imraan Khan) and a sis (Prachi). He works as an auto driver, leading a peaceful life. But his past catches with him fast and he has to go back to his violent ways. A flashback reveals he was a Delhi residing local do-gooder-bhai (that's why the title) who helped unjust victims get justice by taking law in his own hands. But following a murder of the local home minister's son he had to flee with his family to Mumbai and live under a changed identity.
In Mumbai, Deva and his family become pawns in a political game played by a seedy Minister, Shinde (Govind Namdeo) and a high ranking police officer, Negi (Danny). He loses his sister and is accused of terrorist links and being involved in the CM's murder. How an on-the-run Deva exposes Shinde and Negi's involvement in the CM's murder conspiracy and comes clean is what this 5 years in the making film all about.
Acting: Sunny is made to do everything (shout in high decibels, attempt dancing to bhangra pop numbers and perform inhuman stunts) that he successfully did a decade back and elicited ceetees from his loyal audience. He does all this here with élan but since age has started showing on his face, the impact of all his histrionics is null. This was supposed to be Priyanka's first film and she has got absolutely nothing to do in here. No wonder she refuses to acknowledge this film. Danny and Govind Namdeo replay what they been doing in such masala flicks. Sayaji Shinde playing a local political goon is very amusing
indya.com rating: 1 out of 5
Direction: Sunny's cousin bro, Guddu Dhanoa has rehashed the plot of one of their old hits together, Ziddi (1997). Dhanoa's target audience in here is clearly the B and C centres and certainly not the multiplex going junta and he delivers what they expect from such films. But if you are looking out for some decent entertainment in a multiplex near you, forget it. Dhanoa also makes sure the high octave background music and actors shrieking their lungs off don't even allow you to doze off to sleep.

Script: It's a complete mockery of sensibilities. Imagine these - Sunny shooting a top cop and a Minister at point blank range and he has arranged this entire thing to be shown live on Aaj Tak channel, Sunny punching a villain's face lying on the ground and he goes underground, Sunny and co. killing off at least 20 people on different occasions in Delhi and Mumbai in front of public and yet shown roaming scott free. And you thought the days of hero coming in timely help of his sister being raped were bygone decades back but the honourable scriptwriter of this film doesn't believe so.
indya.com rating: 1 out of 5
Music: The music of this film was recorded many years back so can't blame musicians Anand Raj Anand and Sandesh Shandilya for providing tunes that don't work in the current scenario. Sunny's jig in the bhangra pop number Lak Tunu Tunu is entertaining though.
