Munna Bhai maker wants Shah Rukh Khan for his next
Not many are aware that Shah Rukh Khan was Rajkumar Hirani's first choice when he started his first Munna Bhai film. Now as the Munna Bhai maker goes on to make his third film which is not a Munna Bhai sequel, he wants to work with the original choice he had in mind for his debut film.
Our industry source tells us, "Raju Hirani is keen on making his third film, a non Munna Bhai film starring the King Khan. It is not a 'laughathon' like the Munna Bhai series but a comic one nevertheless. Raju had also recently met SRK at the Star Gold Comedy Honours and discussed this possibility of working together. But he is yet to receive any confirmation from the King Khan."
The Munna Bhai director stated, "My forthcoming film is set in a college. It takes a light-hearted look at the educational system in India today. It is about how our faulty education system is killing creativity. It is too early to state whether who shall be starring in it. But I would like to state that I am also writing the third film in the Munna Bhai series and the one that finishes faster, I will make that film first."
Our source adds, "If one sees the end credits of Hirani's, Munnabhai MBBS rolling over, one line that is sure to grab one's attention is - 'Special Thanks to Shah Rukh Khan for his inputs on the script.' The character of Munna Bhai was conceived by Raju keeping the Badshah of Bollywood in mind. He had also initially signed him for the main lead but SRK had backed out citing his back problem. But in accordance with the Bollywood superstar's constructive inputs in the script, the Munna Bhai maker did not forget to modestly acknowledge him in the end credits. Now he is very eager to work with him for his next project."
