Nana wants to play Shivaji on celluloid
Nana Patekar says he is eager to portray the character of Shivaji on the big screen. "I feel I could have done Bhagat Singh's role a few years back, which is not possible now because of my personality and over all looks. But I think I can still play Raje Shivaji."
On being asked whether he has started working on the idea, he said, "I'm talking to some known people in the industry. Personally, I'm working on a sketch of Shivaji and also trying to find out how I would look in a particular make up of Shivaji. I am very serious about it. I am still looking for a story line. It will be good if I get a producer but if I don't, I'll produce it myself some day."
Nana is already into directing films. So there should be no issue if he doesn't find a director for the film. He can use his knowledge as a Maratha to the hilt.
Is this his dream role? "I have done so many films and characters. I don't have any such dream character or role but, as I said before, the only one regret I have is that I could have done Bhagat Singh's character. It's not the right age for me to play Bhagat Singh now."
The actor known for his sanki behaviour has done films like Krantiveer, Parinda, Tiranga, Agnisakshi, Taxi no.921 and Bluffmaster.
