Kumar Sanu Kumar Sanu to direct film on street children

Singer Kumar Sanu is all set to make a movie on street children and those kids who are kidnapped. The movie is called as Yeh Sunday Kyon Aata Hai?

We caught up with him at Charisma Health Spa, while he was busy doing Pedicure. According to Sanu, even men have a right to look beautiful and indulge in some health and beauty nourishment.

About Yeh Sunday Kyon Aata Hai...
I am very enthusiastic about the movie and we have a target to release it in August.

The movie is about four children who are boot polishers in actual life, who have been picked up from Borivali station. These children have dreams of studying and earning their livelihood.

Mithun Chakraborthy, Shabana Azmi, Celina Jaitley, Jaspal Sharma, Mumait Khan are some of the cast members of the movie. Kumar Ravindraraj, assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt, gave this idea to me and I liked it. So I decided to go ahead with it.

There is an item song which is yet to be shot; otherwise the shooting of the movie is almost complete. There is also one Banjara song in the movie.

Anant Gupta's case
One of the cases dealt with in the movie is the Anant Gupta kidnapping case. Anant, son of Adobe India CEO Naresh Gupta, was kidnapped late last year. But due to his father's fame, the police force was immediately put into action. There was an article in a newspaper which stated that there were 38 more children kidnapped on the same day. What about them? I am taking this into consideration and this point is highlighted beautifully in the movie.

More about the film
This movie shows the lifestyles of all those who beg, who have very low income and stay on footpaths. The shots are from slums, where it was not at all possible to reach with the trolleys and hence we shot with cameras in hand. Many shots of slums from Dindoshi, Borivali etc are there in the movie.

On child labour
As far as child labour is concerned, it's the government's task to look at it. They make so many rules but why don't they bring them into practice. We can only help to reduce it. I would like to give them education and house so that they can live happily.

As a singer
I have sung many romantic songs. Bahot romance kar liya ab kuch alag karna chahta hoon. So I went ahead with this fabulous idea. There are songs by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shaan, Khushboo, and Kalpana. The last mentioned is a new singer in Bollywood but she is considered the Lata Mangeshkar of Uttar Pradesh.
