Apne hue paraye for Himesh
Despite being the music director of Apne, Himesh Reshammiya has been distancing himself away from the film. Reason - the Dharmendra-Sunny-Bobby starrer, releasing on the same date (29th June) as Aap Kaa Surroor is posing a big threat to his debut film as an actor. Naturally, the producers, Harish Sugandh and Sangeeta Ahir are enraged.
Our production source tells us, "Himesh did not attend the music launch of Apne, despite being in town. He has made quite a reputation in the industry for aggressively promoting all his films in the media and at every given opportunity speaking about the merits of his films' music, but he is making an exception for Apne. He is nowhere seen discussing anything regarding Apne's music. T-Series, which holds the music rights of both Apne and Aap Kaa Surroor, were also seen giving more publicity to Himesh's film. With even the Deols expressing their unhappiness over thanda promotion of Apne, the producers of the film have pumped in an extra Rs. 5 crores for the film's publicity on various television channels."
A source close to the nasal twanged singer has a different story to tell though. "Himesh is being pressurized by many industry bigwigs to postpone his film's release date but since his mother's birthday falls on June 29 th he had set his film's release date on the same day as a gift for her. He is not sidelining Apne but is genuinely busy juggling his time with his own film's promotion and judging the Zee TV show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 - Sangeet ka Vishwayudh."
Himesh was unavailable for his comment despite repeated messages.
One more film will be releasing along with Apne and AKS, Bhatt camp's Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan, whose music (Pritam) is topping the charts as well.
