Govinda signs three comedy films
Actor-cum-politician Govinda, along with Akshay Kumar, has signed three comedy films with Venus - two to be directed by Priyadarshan and one by David Dhawan.
Confirming the news, Champak Jain, director of Venus, said, "It needed some convincing but Govinda finally agreed."
"The movies will all be comedies. We really want to cash in on the trend. And we know Govinda and Akshay are the most saleable comedy stars in the industry today," Jain added.
The company plans to shoot their films next year in a back to back schedule; a system usually adopted by Yash Raj films. Yash Raj tends to book stars for several projects together so that dates are made available and shooting can progress smoothly. Jain says, "2008 will be busy for Govinda. The three movies will have a continuous schedule in India and abroad."
Govinda has been one of David Dhawan's favourite stars but it has been a while since he has worked with the director. 2008 though promises to be jammed pack year for Govinda. His film Partner with Salman is scheduled for release on July 20.
