Dia needed 15 takes for one shot in Shootout!
Dia Mirza, who is playing the character of a crime reporter Mita Mathu in the multi-starrer Shootout At Lokhandwala, needed 15 retakes for one shot in the film.
Dia, who is essaying the role of a crime reporter for the first time on big screen, is admittedly struggling with the long monologues.
"In one shot, I had to look into the camera and speak. There were very long monologues of more than two pages. Usually, when there is a big shot, it is broken into parts and then filmed but when there are monologues, it has to be done in one stretch. That was the biggest challenge while portraying this character. Normally, there are co-stars who give you some reactions but in my case there was no one even to correct me. I was just alone facing the camera.
I usually take three takes to complete a shot but on the sets of Shootout At Lokhandwala, it happened not once but twice that I took 15 takes for a shot. I was very nervous but in the end, it turned out well."
Dia Mirza claims to be a big fan of Barkha Dutt. "I admire Barkha. It is very rare that you find girls accepting such a challenging role in real life. I am happy I got a chance to portray such a character on screen."
About the Shootout
Shootout... is a reality based story, one of differences being that in real a male crime reporter covered the shootout but in the film, the makers have taken some cinematic liberty using a female reporter.
In 1991, Commissioner of Police Aftab Ahmed Khan (played by Sanjay Dutt) shot Dawood Ibrahim's aides, including Maya Dolas (Vivek Oberoi) and Dilip Bua (Tusshar Kapoor). This caused a massive uproar as Khan had to face inquisition from his own department and legal charges of human rights violations.
Shootout At Lokhandwala is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
