N Chandra to make Tezaab 2, Madhuri and Anil not in it
The movie that catapulted Madhuri Dixit into the big league is coming back. Director N Chandra is planning to make a sequel to his 1988 super hit Tezaab. Titling it Tezaab 2 - Revisted, Chandra says he hopes to bring back the magic of the first movie.
"Yes I want to make a sequel to Tezaab. This will be my next film. It's going to be an action love story with the same kind of passion and action like Tezaab. We are in the midst of deciding on the star cast which will include some big stars from the industry. We won't be using the same stars again," says Chandra.
Chandra says that the movie should go on the floors by August as he is already close to finalising the script. "There will definitely be a certain thread that will tie this movie to the first one. Of course there will be things from Tezaab which will continue in this but it will be a whole new story.
"When Tezaab was released in 1988 the violent love story that it was suited the young generation of that time. It touched everyone at that time. But now a lot of time has passed and I think it's been ages since a violent love story which is mixed with realism has not been made. And I therefore think that this is the right time to make a movie like this," adds Chandra.
About Tehzaab
Tezaab (1988) starred Anil Kapoor who joins the nation's armed forces so that he can serve the country. During his college days he has a run-in with a fellow-collegian played by Madhuri Dixit. A bet between his friends and himself ends with Kapoor falling in love with Dixit. Madhuri's dad (Anupam Kher) is an alcoholic and wishes that Mohini takes up dancing and prostitution so that he can get his daily dose of alcohol. Mohini attempts to take refuge with Mahesh, however, cirumstances tangle Mahesh to such an extent that he is arrested, charged, and sentenced to stay away from Bombay city limits. When Mahesh returns, it is no longer the honest and patriotic Mahesh, but a gangster named Munna, who has many old scores to settle. Tezaab included the song 'Ek Do Teen' which made Madhuri an overnight success and topped music charts for weeks.
