Ashwini Chaudhry: Journalist-turned-filmmaker
Ashwini Chaudhry the Journalist-turned-Director who had made sensitive films like Dhoop, Siskiyaan and Laado, and a National award winner, his next film to be released is Subhash Ghai's Good Boy Bad Boy, speaks about why his films always depict real life with their social issues.
"Good Boy Bad Boy is my first comedy film, but it has a message for the youth which has been conveyed through comedy." Ashwini is now working on his next project, a real life story called Gurudakshina. "This is the story of professor Sabharwal, played by Om Puri who is murdered in jail. Sunny Deol plays the role of a narrator. The shooting will start in May in Lucknow."
Why are your films the serious kind? "May be my current work is a reflection of my past career as a journalist. Because I have seen life, at close quarters then any other normal person as a reporter, so my films reflect serious life." said Ashwini.
"Good Boy Bad Boy is a reflection of today's youth who are not clear about their goals. This film is a mirror of society. Our films are always from real life, the issues which are highlighted by the media are issues which interests would interest a normal person in."
Talking about his working experience with Mukta Arts and Subhash Ghai, "Since he is an experienced Director I used to have fights with him, but that is more helpful, than from producers who are not directors and don't know what are the needs for making good and class films." Concluded Ashwini.
