Aamir to act in debut film of SRK mentor's son
Aamir Khan has agreed to act in Haroun Mirza's directorial debut. Haroun is the son of Aziz Mirza, who is considered the mentor of Shah Rukh Khan. The yet untitled film will begin post the shooting of the Aamir produced and acted - Kajri - finishes.
Our industry source informs, "Haroun had been working on a script for long, keeping King Khan in mind. Shah Rukh was keen on producing his maiden film as a filmmaker. But, after waiting too long for it, Haroun decided to go ahead with his film. He approached Aamir and the choosy actor has given his green signal after going through the script and suggesting certain changes."
"Haroun currently features on the board of directors of Red Chillies Entertainment - Shah Rukh's production house. Shah Rukh had put him on board along with other young directors to shoot ad films for his company," our source continues.
Haroun was seen as an actor in his father, Aziz Mirza's TV Serial Naya Nukkad and debuted as a hero in a Yash Raj films produced telefilm, Humko Ishq Ne Maara. Later he assisted his father in films that the Badshah Khan produced - Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) and Chalte Chalte (2003). He was also the Chief Assistant director of the SRK-produced Paheli (2005), directed by Amol Palekar.
Haroun refused to divulge details and our repeated efforts of trying to get in touch with him met with no response.
SRK-Aziz Mirza
Aziz Mirza had played mentor to SRK and taken him in his serial Circus (1989). Later he went on to do his first film as a director with SRK - Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992). He also directed him in Yes Boss (1997). SRK had jointly floated his first production house - Dreamz Unlimited with Aziz and Juhi Chawla and made PBDH and Chalte Chalte with Aziz. In the last few months there have been reports that Aziz is moving out of the SRK camp after he had announced a film with Shahid Kapoor as a the hero opposite Vidya Balan. Now son Haroun seems to have followed suit and has started working on his first film with the Rang De Basanti star.
